Unsung Heroes

Books - my first blog sentence.
How can anyone not read books?
No, magazines won't do and the net,
while wonderful and indispensable,
can not replace books.
Know anyone who doesn't read books?
Please don't introduce them to me -
I don't have time to waste anymore.

Since I am venturing into blogging
at the late date of March, 2007,
I will try to check my spelling,
however, I warn you now,
I am a terrible speller.
So, I may need your help.
Please do not hesitate to report any misspellings.

Your Foreign Language Lesson for Today is Latin:

"Dear God, I forgot to wear underwear! "
"Di immortales! Sine satis habitus in homines exii."
***There is no known word in Latin for ‘underwear’

I was on the beach recently and saw a couple
who stole my heart.
Perhaps they will steal yours too.
So I wrote this poem for them:

The Big Beach Ball

There they go,
two of my unsung heroes
Walking the beach in skimpy bathing suits,
Their hinder parts hanging out on one side,
Their bellies on the other.
Drooping breasts and cellulite,
They wobble down the strand,
enviable in their courage and delight,
kicking unvarnished toes in the sand.
I hail you ladies and you gents
Who are not intimidated at all
By the supercilious vainglorious
who seem to think they own
the big beach ball

((Had a bit of trouble deciding whether to use rumps or hinder parts
in this poem. An English friend pointed out my original 'fannies' just
wouldn't do. I rather like 'hinder parts.' Beautiful couple, right!))
Here's a favorite Forum of mine - most of the people are from Britain:
http://www.idf50.com/clubhouse/

I simply love Forums and visit more than one - one in Scotland,
one in Liberia, one in India, and a couple in the United States.
Do you know a good Forum? If so, let me know.

A friend of mine from Durham, England visited us recently
and we added some new web pages to his site. You may enjoy
checking out Michael's website. As you will be able to tell,
I had to do a lot of the design work - but he's great.
Am trying to get him to start writing magazine articles,
as he is a fountain of information on so much.

This is an old website and among the first I made.
It's called THE BAG LADY IS HERE, and says a lot about
how I think politically. (Yes, I'm a political...)
http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Bayou/2941/
Please excuse the many mistakes you find there in
my directives - haven't worked on this site recently.
Why am I including it here then?
Because it's the first thing I wanted to do when I
got a computer and found out about ''web pages."

Hoo, boy, here we go.
If you update the stuff you did in the past, you'll get some interesting e-mails. No hate mail from this lady.

Love,
Wordlady

Maggie Blue,
Your poetry is endearing, your personality is winning, and your blog is informative and helpful. Even though your blog site is all about you, you take pains to assure your readers that, ultimately, it really ISN'T all about you. I admire that in a person. Keep on truckin', my friend! (from Teep)

Well, Hi, Maggie Blue!

Yes, I have a going weblog and have had it for over two and a half years now (that's a lot of messages posted!) and interestingly enough it uses the same template as yours. (If you decide you want to take a day off, you can send your readers my way; but, do warn them that I'm in Greater Cincinnati and not Florida.)

I picked yours up in IDF50, if you want to know.
